Dairy Free, Egg Free, Peanut Free, Tree Nut Free Products
I was doing my grocery shopping this weekend when a woman stopped to talk to me about the soy yogurt I was buying for my son. She mentioned that her son is also allergic to cow’s milk protein and was curious if my son liked the soy yogurt. As I was speaking to her I noticed that she was holding a package of rice cheese in her hand. I asked her if she was buying that for her son and she said she was. At that moment I realized that she probably didn’t know how to read an ingredient list for the other names cow’s milk protein is referred to. The rice cheese she was holding has casein in it – that is another term for cow’s milk protein – and obviously very dangerous for her son.
This has prompted me to start compiling a list of the products I find that are safe for my son to eat, or seem to be safe so far. I cannot guarantee that these products will always be safe to eat as manufacturers change ingredients in the products, or change the factories where the products are made, frequently. Therefore, please read the ingredients list every time you go to buy the product. All of these products I can get at my local grocery or health food store. I will update this list as new products come to my attention. In addition, I will post a list of things to look for while reading ingredient lists for potential allergens.
Betty brand bread and buns
Life Stream Eggless and Dairy Free Waffles – Hemp or Berry
Healthy Choice Chicken Nuggets
Honey Maid Graham Wafers
Decadent Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Primo Chicken and Rice Canned Soup – None of the pasta versions are safe
Tofutti Mozzarella Soy Cheese Slices (make sure the cheese indicates that it is casein and lactose free)
PC Organics Spaghetti Sauces (or any jarred sauce that does not have pine nuts or cheese in it)
Premium Plus Crackers
PC and Harvest Whole Wheat Pasta
Uncle Ben’s Natural Selection Wild Rice Microwaveable Package
Quaker Plain Rice Cakes
Rice Krispies
Cheerios – however, I have some concern as to how they keep the plain Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios Separate – I will have to call the company on this one.
So Nice Soy Milk – Chocolate and Regular
So Nice Soy Yogurt
Rice Dream Milk
Chickpeas, Kidney beans, black beans etc. (If your child is allergic to peanuts, lentils and split peas may not be safe as they are closely related).
Dare Simple Pleasures Oatmeal Cookies
Rold Gold Pretzels
Regular Potato chips (most varities)
Life Choice Chicken Nuggets and Fish Sticks (these are made in a factory that makes other things that have milk in them but my son has never had a reaction).
PC Turkey Tornados (yes, processed food, but it is a quick and easy meal and sometimes you need that).
More to come....

Thank you - I have a son just diagnosed with severe egg and milk allergies, and I am scared. I have cleaned out the kitchen and spent over $200 dollars worth of products so he can eat. I am finding that even though the labels look safe I still have to call companies, only to find that it sometimes still contains/ or is cross contaminated but not listed. As I discover products would you like them added to your page.
Thanks Again
Kristin
Hi Kristin,
Thanks for your comment - I would love it if you added safe products that you discover. Please note that I am updating this page today as I discovered that a couple of the products I posted are no longer safe (Rice Dream Ice Cream, now has trace amounts of nuts on the label). Let's keep in touch.
Thanks,
Hope
My children also have multiple food allergies, dairy, egg, peanut, tree nuts, coconut, lamb sesame and soy intolerance. Shopping is a large task, that takes a long time, but we have been doing this for 5 years now. There are two great cheeses out there (Follow your heart)makes a great one that actually melts if you are making grilled cheese and pizza, and Galaxy foods now makes a vegan rice cheese slices without soy that actually melts and is great on sandwhices, my 3 year old loves them. And a great snack for the kids are OREO's no milk, no egg, no nuts, they come in chocolate and vanilla, the kids love them.

My 14 month old was just diagnosed being allergic to egg, milk, and peanuts, along with our dog and cats. It's been overwhelming trying to find foods to feed her also,i really appreciate your list of foods that are o.k. as of now,if you have any suggestions I will be more than thankful ,its already hard to find foods for her to eat before we found this out. thank-you. jamie
Hi Jamie,
Thanks for your comment. Sorry that the postings are so out of date, I just don't seem to have the time for updating them like I used to. I know how you feel about trying to find "safe" foods - it can be frustrating and time consuming. I am going to go through the list and update it today so check back soon.
Thanks,
Hope
Hi. I just discovered your site. I have a daughter with peanut, tree nut and dairy allergies. We've been doing this routine for 10 years now! Enjoy Life is a great product line with foods made in a dedicated alergy free bakery (no wheat, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, soy, fish or shellfish). So Delicious also has very stringent testing of their equipment. Please double check their labels though!
Thank you for all this information. I have just been diagnosed with dairy, egg and bean allergies. My two boy's as well are in the process. I am lost as to what I can and cannot eat and will be shopping tonight. As I find new products I will list with you
For any animal derived allergies (milk, eggs etc). I found it very useful to go to the peta.com website (type vegan in the search bar).
While their list is vegan - which may not apply to all allergies - it certainly helped me research for a friend whose daughter developed an egg-white allergy. It's a wonderful, comprehensive list of regular store brands - and should make your shopping easier, safer and cheaper than high end specialty health store shopping. Good luck!
I don't know how old this thread is, but I am hoping it will help anyone who stumbles upon it.
The last poster mentioned Peta as a good source for vegan foods. Well, my husband worked for Peta and the list was compiled by a woman (she was fired 2 weeks after she made this list).
There are many things on the list that are not vegan. They contain dairy products. Despite me having an allergic reaction to the Wonder Bread (who they claim has no dairy), Peta refused to correct it. So please, don't rely on their list. Read the labels, keep a list of "hidden" ingredients on hand and compare them to the label you are reading at the store.
A good page to print is www.kellymom.com/store/handouts/concerns/hidden-dairy.pdf
I hope this helps someone out there.
My daughter also has a dairy, egg peanut and tree nut allergy. This was helpful to read. I wanted to add that the rice cheese in the original post has now come out with a completely dairy free choice, tho we have not tried it yet. If anyone has, please let us know what you think. I appreciate reading about the melting brands of cheese and will have to try to locate those at a healthfood store as our grocery store does not have them. Thanks again for everyone who posted! It is nice to know we are not alone!
I found out that my son has egg and milk protein allergies and as he is nursed I've had to cut it out of my diet. It is hard to find things! I am glad I found this as I didn't realize there was dairy free cheese! And cheese with no soy.
Hi
My 15 month old son is allergic to dairy, eggs and nuts. I find that goatsmilk agrees with him. This is a greta help since you can get yoghurts and cheeses. hope this helps someone out there!!!
Looking for HELP! Our 2 month old grandchild has been tenatively diagnosed with milk and egg allergies. Her mother nurses and has eliminated all those foods from her diet yet the baby still has projectile vominting and occassional blood in her diaper. She sees a specialist tomarrow but I am wondering if anyone else has had this type of symptoms? We are so concerned. thanks
We need more sites like this! I see kids for feeding/swallowing issues MANY of which have or are suspected of having food allergies. Very nice to have a list of other 'favorites'...Ill check back, thanks! Kristina
THANK YOU FOR THIS!! I wish there were more lists like this! Thank you for taking the time out to list this!! My 10 month old daughter was just diagnosed with M,E, P, and T nut anaphylaxis!! I have 3 older children who surive on milk and eggs!! We are taking it day by day and educating them how it will make her really sick and slowly I hope to convert them to her diet until she hopefully can outgrow the M and E part. I pray for it all, but was told the P and T was very rare to outgrow....
Thank you again! Do you mind if I put you on my blog as a favorite link?
THanks!
Heather
What a great site! I have a 2 year old with sever milk, egg, and peanut allergies. She was diagnosed at 5 months and it was horrible. For the mom with a 2 month old, if she is breastfeeding she needs to make sure she is not eating any allergens either. I have found a lot of good products out there that are safe for my daughter. Gourmet vegan makes a cheese alternative in mozarella and cheddar flavor and it comes in a block that I shred and and melt on pizza etc. Nabisco makes 100 calorie packs...alphabits and animal crackers that work great in the diaper bag or in lunch boxes. zensoy makes really good pudding. Blue Bonnet light is safe margarine. I could go on and on. I am always looking for new products...I found enjoy life chocolate chips and my kids love them in cookies. Sunbutter makes by far the best peanut butter alternative and work not only on snadwhiches but in cookies and anything I have tried to bake. I hope someone finds this useful!
I am so grateful for helpful websites like this! My daughter is 11 mos and has egg/milk/nut allergies. I have found the peta web site to be helpful. Someone mentioned that not all the "safe" foods are actually correct, but they have tons of foods on the lists. And at least it is a place to start.(Always read lables yourself every time anyway.) They have tons of recipes and helpful suggestions. I never would have thought to check that site out before, but I'm glad I did. Also a good cookbook for kids is at www.dairyfreeeggfreekidpleasingcookbook.com
Thanks for your ideas! Just found out my child has allerigies to milk, egg, potatoes, cod fish, chocolate, cod fish, beef, apples, and corn, along with other environmental allergies that the Dr. said cross-react with some of the food allergies. We have been struggling to find foods that our child is able and willing to eat. Your website has given me many good ideas and I appreciate it greatly! Thanks.
Kim
My 12 month old was just diagnosed with severe allergies to peanuts, egg, and milk. and "Mild" allergies to soy, wheat, rye and gluten. Help... What can I feed him?
To Luke's mom: We have had a lot of difficulty trying to overhaul our child's diet. Rice milk was the best option for our child and it when have to shop at the natural food stores for most of his food. The good news is they make a lot of gluten free food. Another difficulty we have run into is that some of products are made using equipment that has come into contact with such things as milk and peanuts.
My son is also allergic to eggs, dairy, and nuts (thankfully he can have soy). The same google search that brought me to your blog also showed me this website, which has dairy, egg, and nut-free bakery products. I have no experience buying for them, but might try them out. http://www.divvies.com/
BTW, we've had good success with goat and sheep's cheeses, but they can be rather expensive, and you still have to read the ingredients, because some are made with egg proteins.
Here's hoping they all grow out of this! :)
This website is going to save my sanity. Thank you so much. My son Fisher has Dairy, Egg, Oat, Beef & Peanut allergies. Any suggestions for bread?
One more thing. Here is another website for you...

Updates on recalled food etc.
Hi all! My son has the following food allergies: dairy, soy, peanuts, wheat, and egg whites.
I have found lots of things he can eat and loves. Try Applegate Farms hotdogs (they make chicken, turkey, and beef and they are free from all allergens and they are organic). Breads by Anna has all kinds of bread mixes and they are also free of the previously mentioned allergens (the pumpkin and banana breads are awesome!). Gifts of Nature also makes tons of bread and dessert mixes. You can get freeze-dried fruits and veggies! Lastly, has anyone done any research on goat's milk for those parents who have children with dairy allergy. Goat's milk is actually more nutritious than cow milk...my son drinks the milk and eats the goat cheese (it melts) with no allergy. Just thought I could help some moms! God Bless
Just wanted to add that Barbara's Breakfast Cereals are also wheat, soy, dairy free and they do make and "O" cereal that you can compare to Cheerios. It is organic and only has like 5 ingredients. They taste just like Cheerios

list of food to avoid with milk, egg allergies
I read Goat's milk can cause allergic reaction in kids allergic to dairy, plus it's it doesn't have the vitamins that are found in cow's milk. I've been using Soy, any thing I should know about?
Thank You so much for sharing your info. I was feeling hopeless when I open my computer but know I see that I'm not alone.
My daughter is 9 years and has a severe eczema problem and has recently been diagnosed with many allergies such as: (dairy, eggs, food coloring, pork, peanuts and YEAST)But I don't see anyone having problem with yeast, is this common? I was also told not to use ketchup because this has vinegar and vinegar has yeast, Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks again I will also share information with all of you as I learn.
ECZEMA. I found the perfect treatment. Honestly, if I wasn't so over-protective I'd post his picture. My 2 yr. old had the worst eczema. Oozing, bloody scabs and flakes. His Dr. prescribed ointments: Hydrocortisone 2.5% twice a day for face, and Fluocinolone .025% twice a day for body. In addition, ONLY CeraVe products. Moisturizing wash (for hair and body) followed with lotion (summer) and cream (winter). If I try Aveeno or Johnson and Johnson just once (for the smell) he's back at square one. He goes into severe anaphylaxis with egg, peanut and tree-nut. So, I stay away from Cetaphil lotion (which is commonly recommended for eczema) b/c it contains macadamia nut oil. Please, please if you have dry itchy babies talk to your doctor about these products/medications. Everyone I've recommended it to can't believe they're looking at their child's skin. It's that amazing!
For baking I use Ener-G egg replacer. It comes in powder form and you can get it at Whole Foods. They also have egg-free mayo.
I found spices made in a peanut free facility. They're expensive, but a small price to pay for his life and my sanity. You can google "The Spice Hunter" for more info. It tells you where you can buy them i.e. Target, Cub Foods, etc. They list all contain or may contain statements on jar and are about $6 each. Also, Kraft, General Mills, and Safeway have both contain and may contain statements. I go to Dominick's for Safeway products. All of my noodles (egg free nut free ingedients and facilities) are from Safeway. Even my Lasagna noodles. They have pretty much every kind of noodle. Argo cornstarch, Argo baking powder (aluminum-free) are at Walmart, and don't come in contact with any egg or nut machinery. Arm and Hammer baking soda is made on it's own line, which makes it allergen free. You'd be shocked at how many simple baking ingredients/spices are made on same line as peanuts or other common allergens. I also found a great cookbook "The Kid Friendly Allergy Cookbook" by Leslie Hammond. It's wheat, egg, dairy, and peanut, tree-nut free and low in sugar. It's nice b/c I can cook in bulk and then freeze for later use. Oreo's, both chocolate and vanilla are also egg, milk, nut free, in nut free facility. Bertolli olive oil doesn't come in contact with any egg or nut machinery. It's the only one I've found thus far. As the mother of a 2 yr. old child with anaphylaxis, asthma, and what once was severe eczema (when not medicated)...i cannot help but share what has and is still working for him. (my little bubble boy) If your going to be sending your children to day care or looking at schools. Start now! Especially with daycare. It's scary enough to leave a healthy child in daycare. Our children need to be at the very least in a peanut free facility. It's said to be the most dangerous of allergies b/c nearly everything comes in contact with it on a product line. And as we know babies and toddlers put everything in their mouth and share all kinds of germs and half eaten foods or bottles/cups. Also, the best nut free peanut butter is Sunbutter. They use sunflower seeds instead of soy. It's really, really good! Caution: it is made on machinery that comes in contact with soybeans. It has the same nutritional value as peanut butter with 1/3 less saturated fat and twice the fiber.
Thank you so much!! I have just been diagnosed with milk and egg allergy. I am 40 years old and am struggling with this change-over. I just hope that we can find these products in South Georgia in our small grocery stores!! Love In Christ,
Michelle Sears
I have a 3 year old son whom we just had to put on a gluten, dairy, egg and peanut free diet.I am having trouble finding recipes that don't include at least one of these ingredients. At least on the internet and that are free.I have been searching the internet for 2 hrs. and have come up with only a handful of recipes.I have limited access to the internet and I am only able to be on it once a week if I am lucky. If anyone reading this can help I would forever be indebted to you.My email adress is ynicci@gmail.com.Thank You so much!
